Alton Menace Stewart

Alton M. Stewart, 90, of Groves passed away, Thursday, February 21, 2013 at his resident in Groves. Alton was born November 19, 1922 to the late Clifton and Lillie Stewart in Van, Texas and lived in Groves since 1945.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City under the ion of Melancons Funeral Home in Nederland. A gathering of the family and friends will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Saturday before the service at the funeral home.Alton loved many things, his entertainment business, Club Stewart, and Lou Anns Night Club in Vinton and the construction business. He retired as the owner and operator of Stewart Dirt Pit, and loved the land he owned in Louisiana. Alton was a life member of the V.F.W. in Vinton and served his country in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees during WWII.Alton was preceded in death by his parents his wife, Delma Reynolds his brother, Travis Stewart Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa Stewart Kendzierski and her husband Danny of Groves his sister, Faye Stewart of Starks, Louisiana his grandson, James Rusty Stewart of Arizona his sisternlaw, Wanda Burch of Vinton, Louisiana nieces and nephews, Travis and Sylvia Stewart of Nederland, Kim and Danny Stafford of Nederland, Pat and Sherry Wells of Georgetown, and Pat Stewart Benken of Houston. Also surviving is his special friend and caregiver, Buck Shoemaker of Groves.
