Pastor Edward Wilton Bro Mac McGowin, Sr., 78, of Nederland passed on August 30, 2012 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. He was born on July 26, 1934 in Damacus, Alabama to the late Wilton LeRoy McGowin and Mary Esther Kirby. Bro Mac has lived in this area for 57 years and was a Baptist Minister.Funeral services will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Nederland on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Gene Kendricks of Conroe, Rev. Mark Humble, Rev. C.T. Hunt, and Bro. Robert Runnels officiating, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melancons Funeral Home, 1605 Ave H in Nederland.Bro Mac is survived by his wife, Nita McGowin of Nederland sons, Edward Wilton McGowin, Jr. and wife, Nita of Port Neches Harold Wade McGowin and wife, Kathy of Nederland Michael Dean McGowin and wife, Denise of Groves daughter, Tammy Suzette McNeil and husband, Russell of Carrolton and adopted daughter, Marie Graham and husband, Wayne 11 grandchildren 13 greatgrandchildren brothers, Glenn McGowin of Milton, FL Lamon McGowin Ernie McGowin and Jerry McGowin sisters, Margaret Burrow of Nampa, Idaho Melba Davidson, Carol Tims and Jowane Bailey all of Milton, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents.In lieu of flowers, free will offering will be taken at the service for Bro Macs widow, or memorials to Faith Baptist Temple Building Fund, 1011 Bowlin Ave in Port Neches.
