Henry A. Myers

Henry A. Myers, age 97, of Port Neches, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at his residence. He was born December 26, 1917 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Hattie Elizabeth and Herman Sam Myers. He served in the United States Army during WWII from October 1940 to November 1945, with two years in combat with the highest rank of 1st Sgt. Henry retired from Gulfport Shipyard as a Quality Inspector after 29 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden.
Henry is survived by his daughters, Wanda her husband, Don Mayfield of Groves, TX, Cindy Hooker, and Michelle Forse of Port Neches, TX; brother, Herman Myers, Jr. of Lake Providence, LA; six grandsons; three granddaughters; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Lucille Myers; and his son, Alvin Myers.
Funeral Services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of the family and friends will be held from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Serving as Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Shaun Myers, Kelby Myers, Coby Rich, Cale Rich, Danny Mouhot, and Kenny Brown. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Edward Myers, Trevor Johnston, Terry Myers, Devon Brown, and Jeff Halbert.
