Milton “Buddy” Yoakum, 72, of Nederland passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Gulf Health Care Center in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with Rev. Andy Sink and Rev. Jimmy Boyken officiating with interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM prior to the service on Saturday.
Buddy was retired from Mobil Chemical as an operator with 30 years of service, and also served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the Freedom Christian Fellowship Church in Port Neches.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, F.L. and Dorothy Yoakum, and sister, Claudia Rodenkirch. He is survived by his wife, Renate of Nederland; two daughters, Kitty Yoakum of Bryan, and Patricia Wood and her husband Jack of Nederland; one son, James Yoakum also of Nederland; one brother, Finely Yoakum and his wife Betty of Beaumont; two grandchildren Michael Head of Ft. Bragg, N.C., and Candace Yoakum of Fred; one step-grandson, J.C. Wood of Port Neches; also six great grandchildren; two aunts, Nan Mull of Nederland, and Mary Pickett of Austin.
