Ray Byrd

Ray Byrd, 73, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. He was born on February 10, 1941 in Shelbyville, Texas to the late Joseph Warren Byrd, Sr. and Ada Brittian Byrd. Ray worked as Assistant Chief Appraiser for the Jefferson County Appraisal District.

Ray is survived by his wife, Frances Byrd of Nederland; son, Marty Byrd and wife, Sheila of Nederland; grandchildren, Joshua Byrd of Nederland, and Justin Byrd of Nederland; brother, James Byrd and wife JoAnn of Nederland; and sister, Marie Fleming of Shelbyville. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Warren Byrd, Jr. and wife, Mary E. Byrd.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Masonic Services at 6:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds Cemetery in Shelbyville, Texas.
