Reece Lamar Jones, Jr.

Reece Lamar Jones, Jr., 82, of Groves passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Oak Grove Nursing Home in Groves. Reece was born May 24, 1032 in Huntington to the late Reece and Rose Lee Jones, Sr. and lived in Groves for 57 years. He retired from Texaco Port Arthur as a Plant Inspector with 37 years of service, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Groves. He also served his country in the U.S. Army.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with Rev. Marty Boddie and Rev. Barry Bradley officiating with interment to follow at the Kirbyville Cemetery in Kirbyville under the direction of Melancon’s in Nederland. A gathering of the family and friends will be held from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at 2:00 on Friday.
Reece was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Earl Jones; and his granddaughter, Lindsey Dutton. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jones of Groves; two daughters, Terry Ferrell and her husband, Mark of Orange, and Lisa Dutton and her husband Jim, of Friendswood; his son, Harrell Jones of Sugar Land; brother, Joe Jones of Kirbyville; sister, Louise Fussell and her husband, Nay of Kirbyville; her four grandchildren, Amber Branecky, Amy Branecky, Jenna Dutton, and Ashley Dutton; three great-grandchildren, Mason Boullion, Logan Boullion, and Julia Branecky.
