Shirley Cardwell Wiggins

Shirley Cardwell Wiggins passed away on October 5, 2012, after a lengthy illness. She was born Shirley Sterling on September 27, 1926. She was raised in Port Neches, Texas, and graduated from Port Neches High School. She obtained a Bachelors of Education at the University of Texas in Austin and a Masters of Education at McNeese University. She worked for Port Neches ISD for 32 years, teaching at Port Neches Elementary and Port Neches Middle School. She resided in Port Arthur and attended Church on the Rock for the past 30 years.A funeral service will be held at Melancons Funeral Home, 1605 Ave H in Nederland on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Ron Hammond officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeptha and Bertha Sterling. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Wiggins, sister, Betty Massey, sons, Russell Cardwell and Reagan Cardwell, daughter and soninlaw, Ricki and Rob Clark, grandchildren, Reyna and Raylyn Clark, and stepsons, Terry Wiggins, and Vernon Wiggins, Jr.
