    Anita Ward

    April 5, 1948 - February 8, 2022

    Anita Lois Ward, 73, of Port Arthur passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Anita was born on April 5, 1948 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Robley and Norma Himel. She is a lifelong believer of the Catholic Faith. Anita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She loved country and Cajun music and would start to dance as soon as the first note was played. Anita according to her husband Larry was “just a wonderful woman”, those who knew her knew that she spoiled Larry rotten. She was an avid Cowboy's Football Fanatic and her wit and loving personality will be deeply missed by all. She was a beautician for over 20 years. Anita is survived by her husband Larry Ward, daughter Stephanie Chesnut, Grandson Blake Chesnut with girlfriend Karys O'Sullivan and stepson Joshua (JJ) Coleson, Sister Joyce McDonnell, brother-in-law’s Johnny Ward, Roger Ward, and Sister-in-law Debra Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents Robley and Norma Himel and her daughter Lori Ann Ward. Pallbearers will be Blake Chesnut, Jesse Johnson, Gage Johnson, Ethan Fujita, Erik McDonnell and Justin Johnson. A celebration of life for Anita will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to begin at 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday February 11th and service to begin at 2:00, burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery Nederland, Texas under direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home Nederland.
