Billy J. Cotten, 83, of Nederland passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Billy was born on January 22, 1938, in Brownsboro, Texas to Eula V. Guntrude Cotten and Johnnie W. Cotten. He was a retired Supervisor for Dupont in Beaumont and a member of the Triumph Church in Nederland. Billy loved to travel, eating out with family and friends, watching T.V.; going to the casino with his family and doing the grocery shopping for the love of his life, Ruth. He never met a stranger and loved to talk with everyone and always had a smile on his face. Billy was wonderful to be around and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-four years, Ruth Ann Cotten of Nederland; children, Randy Cotten and wife, Marianne of Nederland, Texas, Roxane Dougherty and husband Tim-Nuevo Arenal of Costa Rica and Rhonda Rountree of North Richland Hills, Texas; their children (grandchildren), Linda Vidrine and husband Troy of Prairieville, Louisiana, Meagan Baker and husband James of Groves, Texas, Ansley Dougherty of Nashville, Tennessee, McKenna Dougherty of Dallas. Texas, Matthew Walls of North Richland Hills, Texas; great grandchildren, Matthew Weaver of Groves, Texas, Addilyn Baker of Groves, Texas; step-daughters, Debbie Belle-Isle and her husband Art of Beaumont, Kim Broussard and her husband Windell of Orange, Texas and Rhonda S. Hill of Spring, Texas; their children (grandchildren),Jereme Martin and his wife Ronda, Brittany Arceneaux, Taran Roy and her husband Mike, Linda, Meagan, Ansley, McKenna and Matthew, Mitchel Hill and Michael Hill; great grandchildren, Christian, Dylan, Matthew Weaver,Taylor Merrell, Trinity Merrell, Trista Merrell, Audrey Funk and Elijah Funk;one great-great grandchild,Kolt; his sister, Mickey Jordan of Brownsboro, Texas. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda Terrell.

A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with a Funeral Service to Honor Billy J. Cotton to follow at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jereme Martin, Mike Roy, Windell Broussard, Michael Martin and Xavier Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers will be Art Belle-Isle, Elijah Funk and Mark Arceneaux.
