Emma Jean Ramirez

Emma Jean Ramirez, 78, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away January 16, 2020. She was born in Hackberry, Louisiana on April 8, 1941 to the late Joseph Ivy Simon and Rose Mary Cortez Simon. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur.
Those left to cherish Emma’s memory are her sons, Larry Shackelford and his wife, Carmen of Nederland and Loren Shackelford and his wife, Bonnie of Tupelo, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Ashley Shackelford, Kayla Norman, and Julia Shackelford; her great-grandchild, Julianna Harris; her brothers, Joseph Ivy Simon, Jr. of Forest Hill, Louisiana and Howard Simon of Vidor; and her brother-in-law, Richard Chesson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank Ramirez, her son Bobby Thomas Shackelford, Jr., and her sister Evelyn Chesson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Urbano Saenze celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
