Everette Wayne Yawn, 80, of Nederland, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Pinecrest Retirement Community in Lufkin, Texas.
Funeral services are scheduled for August 21, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Nederland, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service with burial in Memory Gardens in Nederland, under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Officiating will be Dr. Jason Burden and Dr. Byron V. McWilliams. Serving as pallbearers are Don Yawn, Ronnie Yawn, Paul Daniel, Johnny Calamia, Jeff Stracener and Tom Smith.
Wayne served as a deacon, church treasurer, and on various committees during the 50 years he was a member at First Baptist.
Wayne was born August 24, 1940, to John O. and Lydia Spurlock Yawn in Fred, Texas. He graduated from Warren High School in 1959 and later would go on to graduate from Louisiana State University. Before Wayne began his career in banking, he worked at Birdwell Department Store in Silsbee where he was able to meet many local people that he never forgot. Wayne began his 50-year banking career at First Security National Bank in Beaumont where he met his wife Bobbie and would retire from DuGood Federal Credit Union in Beaumont in 2018.
Wayne was a wonderful husband, father, and PeePaw, but most importantly he loved the Lord Jesus. He was a true family man and was the happiest when he was spending time with Ashli and the boys in Lufkin, drinking coffee with family in Nederland, and returning to Tyler County to see his numerous relatives.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years Bobbie Yawn, parents, John O. and Lydia Yawn; Mother-in law and father-in-law, Bruce Sr. ad Vera Stacener; brothers and sisters-in law, Herman Yawn, Brit and Jessie Yawn, RB and Betty Yawn; sister and brother-in-law Geraldine and Gerald Daniel; and brother-in-law, Vic Calamia.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Ashli and husband Chris Baldridge of Lufkin; grandsons, Callen Michael and Caleb Everett Baldridge of Lufkin; sister and her husband Joyce and Joe Ramirez of Nederland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Carolyn Stracener of Nederland, Ronnie and Linda Atkinson of Granbury, and Raymond and Karen Stracener of Pineville, Louisiana, and sister-in-law Earmia Yawn of Fred; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Tom and Fran Smith of Nederland.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Nederland or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
