Gareld Arvile Duplissey, age of 99, Lumberton, TX, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Calder Wood in Beaumont. Arvile was born on March 25, 1922, in Glenmora, Louisiana, to Adolphus Van Buren Duplissey and Bertie Pittman Duplissey. He was the oldest of three children. His family moved to Port Arthur, TX when he was a child. Arvile lived the majority of his life in Port Arthur until moving to Lumberton in 2009. Arvile worked at the Texas Company until December 1942 when he joined the United States Army Air Forces. He was in the 8th Air Force 486 Bombardment Group – 834 Bombardment Squadron and stationed in Sudbury, England as a Ground Crew Chief on B24 Liberators and Boeing B17 Flying Fortresses. Upon discharge in November 1945, he returned to work at the Texas Company where he worked in Operations on the West Side. He retired as a Supervisor – Operations West Side from Texaco in 1980. Arvile was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Theresa “Tillie,” sons Mark and Gary, his brother, A.J. and sister Elouise Graffagnino. He is survived by his children John Duplissey and wife Linda of Dripping Springs, TX, Carol Duplissey of Lumberton, TX, Margie Hanna and husband Dale of Port Neches, TX and Pat Duplissey and wife Rhonda of Lumberton, TX. Seven grandchildren, Rachel Cammack and husband Rob, Jimmy Duplissey and wife Lori, Vince Duplissey, Melissa Gravett and husband Chris, Jennifer Murphy and husband Kevin, Chris Hanna and wife Lainey, Anna Duplissey and 12 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend their thanks to his caregiver, Myrtle Williams for her dedicated service to their Dad. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 5:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Internment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mr. Duplissey’s honor may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
