Henry “PawPaw” Adam Vickers, 88 of Nederland, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Henry was born in Kirbyville, Texas on April 23, 1932 to the late Adam Vickers and Alice Eola McFatter. Henry proudly served his country in the Marines and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a kind and loving person who would gladly give the shirt off his back to help those in need, and was always the first to lend a helping hand. He and his late wife, Lucille, were also voted as the “neighborhood grandparents” for their neighborhood, and no one would ever leave their house hungry. Henry is survived by his daughter, Toni Galaviz; his sons, Fred Vickers and his wife Wendy, Jeffrey Vickers and his wife Deborah, and Woodrow Farmer and his wife Lisa; his grandchildren, Amanda Farmer, Miranda Johnson, Miranda Hayes, Brittany Fair and her husband Nathan, Stephan Galaviz and his wife Margeaux, Megan Daley and her husband Keith, Corbett Vickers and his wife Amber, Adam Vickers, and Aden Vickers and his wife Rachel; his great-grandchildren, Jessica Brewster, Kristina Woods, Haylee Hill, Michaela Hayes, Austin Hayes, Evan Fair, Liam Fair, Seven Galaviz, Valor Galaviz, Addyson Daley, Raylynn Daley, and Rachel Natalie Vickers; his siblings, Nonnie Manuel, Margaret Mancil, Bonnie Darby, Nay Vickers, Doris Gonzales, Sue LaFleur, and many other loving friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille Marie Vickers; and his siblings, Houston Vickers, Robbie Martin, Lois Johnson, Mason Vickers, Rudolph Vickers, Huey Vickers, and Sam Vickers. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Due to Coronavirus-19 we request that friends and relatives practice social distancing while attending Henry’s visitation and service. All guests are required to wear a face mask before entering Melancon’s Funeral Home.
