October 13, 1930 - October 6, 2020
Jackie “Nana” Henry, 89, of Sugar Land, Texas formerly of Port Neches, Texas passed away peacefully on October 6, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 13, 1930 to the late Meredith Henry Jones and Royena “Trixie” Rhodes Jones. To Nana, as she was known to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchild, and lovingly called by all who met her, the love she had for her family was second only to her love for our Lord Jesus Christ. She never met a stranger she didn’t embrace with love and respect. Jackie was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of the Park Place Ladies Auxiliary and the MCSETX Ladies Auxiliary. Nana was an exceptional cook and baker. She was best known for her gumbo, cakes, cookies, and gingerbread men. She loved making every single person in her huge family their personalized gingerbread man/lady every Christmas. Nana was the consummate sports fan. Although she loved her Astros and Dallas Cowboys, her favorite sporting events were watching her grandchildren and her great grandchildren play. Those left to cherish Jackie’s memory are her children, Sharon Henry of Sugar Land, Leigh Easter and Robert Easter of Missouri City, Jackie Eakin and her husband Billy of Alvin, Matt Henry and his wife Darcy of Spring, and Stephnie Metzer and her husband Dave of Sugar Land; her grandchildren, Melanie Callegari (Chip) Joshua Dean, Melissa Pilkington (Chris), Erin Cornelius (Bryan), Chris Barrow (Marissa), Katrina Keithley, Justin Barrow, Sr., (Misty), Caroline Henry, Carter Henry, Luke Metzer, and Sarah Metzer; her great grandchildren, Jacob Hickman, Hayden Hickman, Andrew Dean, Austyn Dean, Allyson Dean, Alexis Dean, Averie Dean, Kody O’Brien, Karsyn O’Brien, Kennley O’Brien, Maddie Briski and Aria Cornelius, Brant Kobersky, Madison Kobersky, Kade Keithley, Macie Keithley, Kira Barrow, Rylee Barrow, Karleigh Barrow, Peyton Barrow, Justin Barrow, Jr., Laynee Barrow, and Drake Barrow; one great-great grandchild, Harper Dean; her loving caregivers, Norma Mercado and Lexie Holm; and her nurse, Donna Olipas-Francisco and Nida May. Jackie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold “HJ” Henry; her daughter Laurie Henry; her sister Yvonne Richmond; and her great-grandsons Matthew Dean and Kyle Keithley. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 6;00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Shane Baxter celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A special thanks goes to A & G Home Health Care and Seasons Hospice for all the love and care they gave our Nana. Memorials can be given to St Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches.
