“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die” John 11:25 On March 3rd, 2022, Marie Jeannette Barlow was called to her eternal home at the age of eighty-six. Jeannette, was born in Ville Platte Louisiana, on September 11th, 1935, the youngest daughter of the late Maurice and Edna Vidrine. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Guy Barlow Sr, twin children, Catherine and David Barlow, Grandson, Greg Chipman Jr., Brother, Mervin Vidrine and Sister, Marie Standridge Left to cherish her memory are her children, Guy (Pete) Barlow Jr, of Nederland, Laurie Woodruff and husband Keal of Houston, Eyde DeVillier and husband David, of Nederland, and Michael Barlow and wife Suzanne, of Nederland. Jeannette loved and cherished her family, especially her Grandchildren who lovingly called her Nanny. Her Grandchildren are Destiny Serres and Jared Foreman, of Nederland, Mandy Henckel and husband Russell, of Bridge City, Brandi Barlow, of O’ahu Hawaii, Kathryn Bass and husband Lanham, of Houston, Emily Blum, of Houston, Ally DeVillier, of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Nicolas DeVillier, of Oregon City, Oregon, Brayden Woodruff, of Sour Lake, Justin and Hunter Woodruff, of Santa Rosa, Florida. Great Grandchildren, Tori Mattingly, of Nederland, Eisley Stansbury, of Bridge City, Olivia and Tucker Lamance, of Bridge City, Leighton DeVillier, of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Mackey Marie Bass of Houston, Jace Mattingly, of Nederland, Camden Clarke, of Bridge City, Remington LeBlanc, of Port Neches, and Great, Great Grandchild, Ford Levi Herring of Nederland. Jeannette was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews that she loved very much. Jeannette grew up in Ville Platte Louisiana, where she was lovingly referred to by friends and family as, “T Jeanne” or “Little Jean”. Her mother worked with Nuns and was very close to a Nun from Canada named Jeanne and chose to name Jeannette after her. Jeannette attended Sacred Heart Catholic high school, where she developed a deep and unconditional Love for God, Jesus Christ and The Virgin Mary. This unwavering love would serve her for a lifetime. After graduating high school in 1953, Jeannette moved to Beaumont, Texas. where she met the love of her life, Guy. The two soon married and started a family, moving to Nederland from Beaumont in 1962. Jeannette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, with unwavering, unconditional, and unrelenting love for her family. She began early in life as the care giver of her family, and these care giving traits never stopped until her passing. She would give her time, money, love, and compassion unselfishly to anyone in need, whether she knew them or not! No one would leave wanting or needing if it was in her ability to help and she asked nothing in return. She truly practiced and lived by the words in Matthew 6:1 “Take care not to do your good works before men, to be seen by them; or you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.” Jeannette was a devout Catholic and active in the church, serving in many ministries over the years. She instilled her love of God into each of her children and grandchildren. She never wavered in her practice of saying daily prayers and the rosary. During good times and bad, sickness and health, until her passing, she displayed her deep-rooted love of God and her Faith. Regardless of the shoes Jeannette filled for you, Mom, Nanny, Aunt, Sister or Friend, she will be greatly missed and forever loved by all. A Christian Vigil will be Tuesday, March 8, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary to begin at 5:30 p.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. Rite of Committal will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted” – Matthew 5:4
