Johnnie Ruth Smith

Johnnie Ruth Brewsaw Smith, 92 years old, was born in Laurel, Mississippi, to the late John Brewsaw and Chellie Knight Brewsaw. She was a 67-year resident of the Port Arthur and Nederland, Texas area, with 49 of those years in Nederland, Texas. Johnnie passed away peacefully on October 15, 2019, in Nederland, TX.
Johnnie was a retired hairstylist and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Those left to cherish Johnnie’s memories are her two daughters, Charmayne Pierce and Rhonda McKinley; their husbands, Tim Pierce and Bill McKinley of Nederland; three granddaughters, Megan Hatcher, her husband Josh of Nederland, Jennifer Pierce of Houston, and Marla McKinley of Nederland; great granddaughter Hannah Hatcher, along with several nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David O. Smith, Jr., three sisters, and one brother.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, in Nederland, Texas, a member of TOPS for over 30 years, a member of the Red Hats Club, and she loved line dancing. If you knew Johnnie, then you know how caring, loving, and attentive she was to all her friends and family. She will truly be missed.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
