Kristina Setliff Abshire

It’s all still so fresh and new
Raw feelings as we think of you
So many thoughts and memories of you
Stories by many of happiness and things that you used to do

August 26, 2016 was a day that changed our life
We were so confused, how could this happen to my wife
Cancer did not define you, but sure showed us who you were
So much strength and so many smiles your struggles are a blur

At first we thought for sure it was something we could beat
Our family and friends knew it would be no small feat
But you handled it with such strength and grace
When our children need courage I know they will picture your face

We fought for more time here with family and friends
Traveled the world for answers not caring what we had to spend
You never backed down from a single battle or treatment
Having more time with your kids and family was your commitment

It’s amazing the people that love you and I am so glad you knew that
In the end you are an inspiration to all and you will NEVER be a stat
The most loving soul in the world that only saw the good
The world would be an amazing place if everyone viewed life as you could

Emma, Destiny, and Easton have been your biggest source of pride
I hope that they know how much you loved them and how much you tried
They will continue to make you proud in the lives they lead
All because of tools you taught and lived that showed them how to succeed

A loving daughter, sister, mother, friend, and wife
We are blessed and better people for having you in our life
Never forgotten you will live on in our children that you taught to love so much
Your smile and laughter forever in the hearts of those you have touched

On Wednesday, December 2, 2020 Kristina Setliff Abshire, an amazing mother, devoted wife, loving sister, daughter, and friend left this earth for her heavenly home with her Heavenly Father after a 4 plus year battle with cancer. She left in the comfort of her home surrounded by love.

Kristi grew up in Nederland and later attended Lamar University earning a business degree. Kristi didn’t leave either school with just an education but also gained friendships and incredible bonds that would last a lifetime and provide such laughter, smiles and strength when needed through all of the trials of life and a few extra she had to endure. Anyone that knows Kristi, knows what her smile looks like because she always had one on her face, you couldn’t help but love her and enjoy being around her.
Kristi loved to travel with family and friends anytime anywhere. Her favorite place was the beach and the sounds of the waves coming to shore but as long as she was able to relax and be with people she loved she was happy.

Kristi was a proud person, most people don’t say that as a good thing about people but it is true Kristi was proud. She was proud of her children, she was proud of her family and friends. She was always bragging, but about other people. She took joy in pointing out the good or the accomplishment of others. If a friend got a new job you would think she got it she was so happy. “Mom is building a new house”, “My brother is starting his own business”, “Kenney is buying a lake house” always so proud. She would be more excited about accomplishments of the kids then they were.

I could go on for days and so could many of you and I hope that you do. Share on Facebook pictures and stories that Destiny, Emma, and Easton can look at to see the impact of Kristi’s time here.

Kristina is survived by her husband Cisco Abshire and her children Emma Griffin, Destiny Abshire, and Easton Abshire; her mother Sharon Lee Roberts and father Kenneth Earl Setliff and stepmother Brenda Setliff; her brothers Kenney Setliff and wife Kellie and TJ Roberts and wife Jessi; her sister Stacy Elizondo and husband Anthony; her nephew Evan Setliff; her nieces Alexandria, Avery, and Autumn Roberts; and Emma’s dad Jim Griffin and his wife Tangee.

Kristina is preceded in death by her pawpaw Foster (Skeeter) Lee and maw maw Emma Jean Lee and aunt Sammie Lee.
