    Michael A Benko

    July 27, 1953 - March 22, 2021

    Michael A Benko, 67, of Nederland, Texas passed away March 22, 2021. He was born in South Bend, Indiana on July 27, 1953 to the late Dick Benko and Betty Baker Benko. Michael loved the Lord, his church family, and he never missed the opportunity to share Jesus. He owned and operated Spec-Plus Automotive of Nederland for 12 years. Michael was an accomplished cellist and had an Associate Degree in Computer Technology from Lamar University. Those left to cherish Michael’s memory are his wife, Mariann Benko of Nederland; his brother, Dave Benko and his wife, Rosa of South Bend, Indiana; his step-mother, Sherrie Benko of South Bend, Indiana; his brothers-in-law, Skippy Hopkins and his wife Lisa of Nederland, and Skott Hopkins and his wife, Denise of Nederland; his 3 nephews, David Benko, Brett Hopkins, and Brian Hopkins; his niece, Kim Benko Koloszar; his step-brother, Brian O’Lena; his step-sister, Connie Bolt; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Children’s Ministry at United Christian Fellowship, 1613 Welch Avenue, Port Neches, TX 77651. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 2 p.m. under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home.
