    Michael Terry Novotny

    May 29, 1944 - April 21, 2020

Michael Terry Novotny (Mike), 75 of Nederland passed away April 21, 2020. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on May 29, 1944 to the late Milo Anthony Novotny and Priscilla Rickey Novotny. Mike grew up in Onalaska, Wisconsin. In Mike's teen years he participated in a family pastime of racing power boats where his family was known as “The Novotny Racing Fleet”. Mike would often be the one to make repairs on the boats and was known to rebuild a motor in the back of the family station wagon while driving down the road to the next event. Mike also raced motorcycles. When it was time to enter the work force Mike decided that he really enjoyed welding and became a boilermaker, he was top notch at that, this brought him to Texas. After several years he decided to open his own business, “Novotny Welding”. He had a passion for antique cars and loved restoring them. Even up to his death he could be found in his shop restoring cars with his wife Regina. Mike loved his family immensely and was extremely proud of his children. Those left to cherish Mike's memory are his wife, Regina Burnette Novotny of Nederland; his daughters, Teresa Novotny Meadows and her husband Rusty of Nederland, Jodie Novotny Bruce of Dallas, and Emily Novotny of Nederland; his son, Adam Claypool of Nederland; and six grandchildren, Julianne Van Auken Peet, Jeffery Van Auken, Jordan Van Auken, Nicholas Adams, Peyton Novotny and Kayla Meadows Hoffpauir. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Terry Michael Novotny. Due to COVID 19 a funeral service will not be held at this time.
