Milton M. McCreery, 84, of Port Arthur passed away, Thursday, May 12, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont. Milton was born in Doddridge, Arkansas on August 25, 1937 to the late Audrey Doyle McCreery and Glenda Inez (Killian) McCreery Trahan.
Milton proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a faithful member of Proctor Baptist Church in Port Arthur. He was a good Christian man and a generous person with a huge heart. Milton was nonjudgmental and would help anybody in need. He had an unwavering love for his grandchildren, who he cherished dearly. Milton ran 27 marathons, 3 triathlons and rode in numerous MS 150 bike rides. He was a hard worker and the owner of Milton’s Texaco and several other businesses. Milton loved gardening, fishing and reading his Bible.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sonja Lea Ronquille McCreery; brothers, Clifford McCreery, Robert McCreery, Donald McCreery; and sister, Elizabeth Moyers.
Those left behind to cherish Milton’s memory are his children, Kent McCreery of Port Arthur; Tammi Hicks and her husband, Bryan of Lumberton; grandchildren, Kandice Gillespie and husband, Reagan of Lumberton; and Lani Edwards and husband, Kenneth of Lumberton; great grandchildren, Bryson Edwards, Brody Edwards, Noah Gillespie, Emery Edwards, Harper Gillespie and Scarlett Gillespie; sister, Rosalie Jarosz, brother, Ray McCreery; and a host of extended family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, May 16, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Milton’s Life to begin at 11:00 a.m., at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Serving as Milton’s pallbearers are Ronald Elizondo, Reagan Gillespie, Kenneth Edwards, Ted Irvine, Bryan Hicks, Dan Prate and Danny Guidry.
