Rodney James Frioux

Rodney James Frioux, 67, of Groves, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on August 28, 1951 in Port Arthur, TX to Nora Benoit Frioux and Rivers Frioux.

Rodney was a 1969 graduate of Bishop Byrne High School and spent the majority of his career in the construction industry doing carpentry.

He was an avid golfer spending many days playing rounds of golf with his friends at the Babe, and he loved fishing, especially for crappie.

Rodney was loved dearly by his extended family, and although he did not have children of his own, his nieces, nephews and their children were like his own. His faith in the Lord was evident, and he spoke often about how much he knew the Lord loved him.

Rodney is survived by his sisters Sandra Borel of Nederland and Lorraine Fletcher of Beaumont; his three nieces: Donna Byars and her husband, Mark of Nederland, Deanna Wilson and her husband, Andrew of Beaumont, and Angie Smith and her husband Brock, of Silsbee. He was also survived by great-nieces and nephews: Kaitlin Richard and her husband, Justin, Logan Forrest, Lauren Byars, Mark Alan Byars, and Garrett Smith as well as a great, great-nephew and niece: Carter and Kye Richard. He was loved and cared for by his ex-wife Carol Frioux and grandson Chris. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents Nora and Rivers Frioux, his niece, Michelle Forrest and nephew, Mark Borel.

A memorial service will be held graveside at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches on Saturday, January 12, at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
