Victor Joseph "Vic" Drago

Victor Joseph “Vic” Drago, 84, of Port Neches passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, in Port Arthur, Texas.

Vic was born on June 27, 1937, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Josephine and Frank Drago. He was a 1955 graduate of Bishop Byrne High School and later attended Lamar University. Vic was District Marketing Manager for Southern Union Gas, and later retired from Conn’s Appliances. After residing in Carlsbad, New Mexico, from 1964 to 1974, he lived the remainder of his life in Port Neches,and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Vic was a life-long entertainer. He got his start at an early age when he performed as a guest singer on a local Saturday morning radio show, but was most known for his career as a wedding singer. Vic sang for countless weddings through the years, including his own, and each of his children’s.

His interests included playing golf, following his beloved Houston Astros, and making frequent casino runs, but his most cherished times were those spent with family. Vic was a gifted storyteller and was blessed with the gift of gab. He never met a stranger and created relationships with every person he encountered.

Vic leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of sixty-two years, Barbara of Port Neches; children, Lisa Solis and husband Steve of Lake Jackson, Texas; Darron Drago and wife Robyn of Houston and Dana Gonzales and husband Dr. Mike Gonzales of Port Neches; grandchildren, Alyssa Solis, Anthony Solis, Jennifer Drago, Victor Drago, Victoria Gonzales and Karisa Gonzales; niece, Tracie Ancelet; nephew, Chad Guidry.

Vic is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Samuel Drago, and his sister,Mary Kay Guidry.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6,2021, at Melancons Funeral Home in Nederland. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in
Groves, Texas.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Chad Guidry, Danny Beckcom, Victor Reed Drago, David Fry, Mike Gonzales and Steve Solis.
