Wallace John Robin

September 11, 1933 — November 2, 2021

Wallace John Robin, born September 11, 1933, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, passed from this life in the loving arms of his wife and surrounded by family on November 2, 2021, at the age of 88.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Virginia Robin, his brother and three sisters. Wallace is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ollie Robin, his children Randy Robin and wife Teresa, Angela Osborne and husband Doyle, Paula Ary and husband Mark, Michele Pastorella and husband Les, and Shane Robin and wife Lana. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, including Jeremy Osborne, Cody Pastorella and wife Katy, Lindsay Smith and husband Tad, Josie Haley and husband David, Christopher Robin and wife Megan, Rachel Holt and husband Ross, Jennifer Robin, Justin Robin and wife Savannah, James Ary, Jacob Ary, Anthony Robin and Andrew Robin. He had 12 great-grandchildren.
Wallace was a native French speaker. He learned English after beginning elementary school, but he dreamed in French his entire life. He graduated from China High School in 1952. He hated travel but saw much of the world beginning with a US Army deployment to Japan during the Korean War. He went on to work at Texaco in Port Arthur for 34 years until retiring in 1986. During this time, he completed management coursework at Lamar University.
Following his retirement, he returned to work in the petrochemical industry, including two years on the Caribbean Island of Aruba. He reluctantly continued traveling with Ollie, including trips to nearly a dozen countries.
Wallace was incredibly industrious and helped everyone who asked. He never found a project too daunting or a request too demanding. He was strong and funny, and he could almost magically grow anything with leaves.
He was happiest at home satisfying his sweet tooth (especially his love for lemon meringue pie), and, in later years, hunting and watching his children’s and grandchildren’s alma maters Texas A&M and University of Houston play football.
Wallace was an active member of the Memorial Church of Christ in Port Arthur for many decades. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Memorial Church of Christ, 2525 Aero Drive, Port Arthur from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service being held at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Jeff Trahan officiant. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland.
